Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MUCH ELDERBERRY SYRUP SHOULD I CONSUME?

It is recommended to take 1 tablespoon a day for adults and 1 teaspoon for children over 1 year (not suitable for infants due to honey) when well and the same dosage just more frequently 3 times a day when needing extra immune support. Our founder, Stephanie loves the honey and spiced flavor and prefers to sip it straight in a shot glass, although you can put it in your yogurt, smoothie, tea, or sparkling water. There is no wrong way to use it. Make it a part of your routine and we'd love if you share any new ideas with us @sweetefflorescence on Instagram or Facebook!

WHAT MAKES YOUR ELDERBERRY PRODUCTS DIFFERENT FROM THE KIND I CAN BUY AT THE GROCERY STORE?

Two things distinguish us from the shelf stable store bought elderberry syrup: ingredients and cost. As opposed to glucose syrup and other additives, we use raw, local honey in our syrup which has natural enzymes that the body recognizes and knows what to do with. We never add preservatives to our syrup or tonic and use organic ingredients. Our bottles are also cheaper than most brands you will find on the shelf in grocery stores. AND they are made really thoughtfully with care in small batches with 3rd party tested herbs and spices.

DO ELDERBERRY PRODUCTS HAVE ANTI VIRAL PROPERTIES? CAN THEY BE USED FOR COLD AND FLU SEASON TO HELP BOOST IMMUNITY?

There is preliminary research out there that indicates this, but no definitive scientific proof that elderberries have a medicinal effect on the body. For centuries many cultures have believed that elderberries help the body get through sickness quicker and that elderberry syrup can be taken daily as a preventive measure. It is up to the consumer to decide what they believe is true and we recommend to do your own research. From our personal experience and our customers experience we have seen much benefit with respiratory and immune strength as well as an overall positive healthy feeling!

WILL YOU MAKE OTHER HERBAL PRODUCTS?

Yes that is the plan! Stephanie didn’t want to bite off more than she could chew in the beginning and focused on elderberry products, since there is a demand for them and she loves making elderberry syrups and tonics! There are so many more amazing and fascinating herbs to work with that can help our bodies in a multitude of ways.

HOW DO I STORE MY ELDERBERRY SYRUP/TONIC AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Make sure to store your elderberry syrup or tonic bottles in the refrigerator as soon as you receive them (yes even before opening the cap). The syrup will last approximately 3 months in the fridge from production date, and the expiration will be noted on your bottle. The tonic lasts 2 months from production date. We make fresh batches weekly as well as sell our bottles within 2 weeks of production to insure freshness for our customers.

*Pro Tip - You can even freeze our elderberry syrup or tonic in ice cube trays for up to 6 months and thaw out smaller amounts as necessary. This is a great option for those people who do not intend to use their elderberry on a daily basis or will be traveling often.

WHO CAN CONSUME ELDERBERRY SYRUP?

Anyone who is over the age of 1 years old can consume it. Due to honey being a main ingredient please do not give any to infants 1 or under.
